The father of silent film star Pauline Starke; George Starke married Edythe Edna Bruce in Joplin, Missouri in 1899. They divorced before Pauline was born in 1900 and it was not until Pauline became a big star, that two and two were put together and George discovered his daughter was a Hollywood starlet. Edythe Bruce Starke continued to have marriage woes. In 1914, Edythe was arrested and charged with bigamy for marrying two men without getting divorced from the previous. The first (her second) was J. Corson Perry, the other was Gordon La Barr. Edythe claimed La Barr had wanted to spend the money Pauline was making in Hollywood as a young star. Later in 1926, Edythe would find herself being sued in a divorce case of Conception Alfonso Ramos, whose wife charged her with alienating the affections of the husband.

George W. Starke married his second wife, Ellen Allura Hurst, they had one son John Lewis Starke. After his divorce from Edythe, he married Ellen and they moved from Joplin to Globe, Arizona. He became a carpenter, then a building contractor and they ended up living in Phoenix, Arizona for the remainder of their lives.
