MINNESOTA CITY — LaVerne “Lovey” C. (Strelow) Brudwick, 83, of Minnesota City passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, at St. Anne Extended Healthcare in Winona.

She was born July 31, 1933, in Winona, to Casmir and Rose (Adamczyk) Flak. Lovey’s career started in child care development working with Head Start, and she later became employed by Winona Day Care Center. Lovey’s compassionate heart and patience and love for teaching were just a few of her wonderful qualities that she shared with so many children and people in the community.

While not at work Lovey enjoyed spending time and doing some traveling with her husband, Jamie, reading, nature, learning about Laura Ingalls Wilder, being a part of a card club with her friends, and she had a love for Native American culture. She was an excellent cook and there was never a shortage of baked goods in her home. She was very devoted to her family and always showed kindness, compassion, patience and unconditional love. She will be forever missed.

Lovey is survived by her husband, Eugene “Jamie” Brudwick; children, Steve (Mary) Strelow, Scott (Pat) Strelow, Kathy (Mark) Caldwell, Paul (Cindy) Strelow, Nancy Strelow Peck and Shelly Wineski (Tim); stepchildren, Terri (Dan) Blakeslee, Tammie Sutphen (Tim), and Jamie J. (April) Brudwick; grandchildren, Marcy (Dave) Marks, Angela (Joey) Marcotte, Nicole (Hank) Rollinger, Mandy Bagniewski (Dennis), BreAnn (Ron) Meier, Scott Tullius (Erin), Derek Strelow, Kristina (Steven) Kerksiek and Kylie Veerkamp (Brodie); stepgrandchildren, Chris (Wendy) Peck, Sarah (Jake) Lindquist, Luke (Sarah) Drazkowski, Derek Webster, Thomas Blakeslee, Heather Sands, Meagen Cahak, Josh Sutphen and Hailey Brudwick; 16 great-grandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rose and Casmir Flak; brother, Casmir Flak. Jr.; sister, Rosemary Eide; grandsons, Matthew Marc Strelow and Barry John (BJ) Tullius; and a son-in-law, David R Peck.

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home. The Reverend Monsignor Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate.

Lovey will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery in a private family burial at a later date.
