Alan Haeuser, 59, died at his home in Guam May 6, 2009. He was born January 23, 1950, in Winona, Minnesota, to Merlin and Marvelle (Rohrer) Haeuser. Alan grew up on Buffalo Valley Jersey Farm, Cochrane, Wisconsin. He was active in 4-H and FFA. He enjoyed showing Jerseys at various fairs.

Alan graduated from Cochrane-Fountain City High School in 1968. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He graduated from Gonzaga University, Spokane, Washington, with a degree in law.

Alan and Sydney Hardy were married June 2, 1979, in Spokane. They had two children. They later divorced.

Alan was presently an attorney in the Family Division and had worked in the Attorney General's Office in Guam for 19 years. He had also served as an Assistant Public Defender and as a Staff Assistant and Legal Officer with the Guam Economic Development Agency..

Alan, in Haeuser v. Department of Law, won a landmark decision in government employee rights. Since winning his case, Haeuser has been cited repeatedly after the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals came out with its decision.

Survivors are his son, Matthew Haeuser, Los Angeles, California, and his daughter, Kimberly Haeuser, Seattle, Washington, his parents, Cochrane, WI, a brother, David (Ruth) Haeuser, Lima, Peru, a sister, Sandra Haeuser/Carson Lentz, Cochrane, and a brother, Edwin (Kimberly) Haeuser, Onalaska, Wisconsin. He is also survived by uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Preceeding him in death were two sisters, Lois and Jane Haeuser.

There will be a memorial service at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cochrane on Sunday, June 21, at 4:00 P.M. There will be visitation from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service.
