Our dear sweet Daddy, Walter Dale Bingham, 85, passed away at home, surrounded by his family, Saturday, December 13, 2003 of causes incident to age. Dad was born February 6, 1918, in Ogden, Utah , to Walter Edward and Lillian Rose Jespersen Bingham. He was the eldest of 11 children. He was reared on a farm in what is now Ogden's Hinckley Airport. Upon returning home from an LDS Mission to the Central States, he met Ramona Spackman and they were married June 30, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They resided in Roy throughout their lives, in the home they built as newlyweds.
Mom passed away October 3, 2003.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His unwavering testimony was evident as he served in many callings including; the first Bishop of the Roy 9th Ward, the first President of the Roy Utah North Stake and a sealer in the Ogden Temple. He served throughout his life with humility and love.
Dad's love of music played an important role in his life. He sang with his 10 brothers and sisters for many years at church and community events. He was President of the Ogden Symphonic Choir. He was the owner of Dale Bingham Pianos and a factory representative for the Sohmer Piano Company.
For years he carried on his dad's tradition of growing watermelon and cantaloupe. People came from miles around to buy a "Bingham" melon. He was a veteran of WW II.
He served on the Roy City Council for 12 years.
One of dad's greatest gifts has been his deep empathy for others.
Many people were drawn to him for counsel and comfort, especially his family. He had a wonderful sense of humor and laughed easily. He was a great listener, a wonderful example, and a tender loving man. We will miss him.
He is survived by nine children; Barbara (Ned) Willie of Hooper; Eileen (Jack) Clawson of Huntsville; Stephen (Kay) Bingham of Willard; Madalyn (Robert) Taylor of Marriott; Gregory (Susan) Bingham of West Jordan; Virginia (Gary) Willden of Tremonton; Deborah (Steven) Montgomery of Huntsville; Louise (Roger) Carroll of Smithfield; Sterling (Lisa) Bingham of Syracuse; 49 grandchildren, 85 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Also surviving are one brother, Harland W. Bingham of Ogden; and seven sisters, Bette Steers, Ogden; Jessie Nield, Ririe, ID: Donna Mosher, Sunset; Delores Tippetts, Slaterville; Kathleen Finch, LA: Nancy Olson, Ogden; and Sandra Brown, St. George.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ramona, grandson, Josh Taylor, great-grandson, John Walter Taylor, and brothers, Keith and Jack Bingham.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 18, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Roy Utah North Stake Center, 4250 South 2175 West Roy, Utah with President Thomas L. Jensen, officiating.
