On Sept. 13, 1941, Don and Grace Johnsen were married at the Annunciation Catholic Church, Green Bay.
Don was president and owner of The Badger State Cheese Co., formerly on the Board of Directors of the National Cheese Exchange and a founding member, and on the Board of Directors of the former East Bank, Green Bay. After retiring he served the U.S. Department of Agriculture training cheese graders in Wisconsin. Don received the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Honorary Life Membership Award from the Green Bay Knights of Columbus Marquette Assembly #1197 in 2000. He had been active in the Green Bay Power Squadron as well. Don and his wife Grace have made their home in Sun City Center, Fla., for the past 16 years, where he was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish, the Knights of Columbus, and former treasurer of the "K" Condo Association of Kings Point, Sun City Center.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Grace; two sons and daughters in law, Joseph Donald (Connie) Koss Jr., Luxemburg, John Alfred (Jill Layne) Koss, Luxemburg; six grandchildren, Jeffery (Jennifer) Koss and their children, Maxwell and Marybeth, Jason (Tracy) Koss and their children, Kamryn, and Colton, Joseph Donald Koss III, Amanda Koss, Nicole Koss and Adam Koss; one sister; Mayburn Koss, Greenwich, Conn.
He was preceded in death by one son, James Paul Koss; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alfred H. and Mary (Holub) Johnsen. Friends may call between 9 and 10:45 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2002, at St. Mary's Church, Luxemburg. Funeral Mass 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Milton Suess officiating. Burial in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. The McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, is assisting the Koss Family.
