Marvin was born to Violet Grover Diplock in Los Angeles, CA. He was an only child. Violet "Pat" married Harold B. Karr, which gave him a sense of stabiity in his young life. The family moved to South Gate, CA which changed his life. He met his lifelong friends in this town, Allen Scott, Ernie Alatorre, Jerry Amman and others. He also become a big football star at South Gate High School, where he was the quarterback. He also met the love of his life at this school, Joyce Pullins.

Before they were married, he played football at Pierce JC where he was awarded Junior College All American. On November 24, 1950, Joyce and Dip were married at the home of her parents. Dip was drafted into the US Army and left shortly after the wedding.
Joyce joined him in San Antonio before he was deployed to Germany. She became pregnant with their first child, Renee Jean, who was born while Dip was away.

After leaving the service, the family bought a home in Norwalk, CA. Their second daughter, Paula Denise, was born 6 weeks before moving into this new home.
Two years later, a son, Dan Gordon was born and this completed the family.
Many happy times were spent in that house, with a pool that they added.

Dip was a machinist by trade, and had his own business, Diplock Machined Products, subcontracting for the aircraft industry.

He was a huge USC football fan, and spent many days watching the games. He also enjoyed coaching youth football.

After many years in Norwalk, they retired in Big Bear, CA for 14 years, and then moved to a retirement community in Seal Beach, CA. Joyce passed away at the age of 80. Dip then moved to Reno to be near his son, and then to Oregon to be near his oldest daughter, Renee. He passed away on July 2, 2017 and was laid to rest with his sweetheart, Joyce on July 31, 2017.

Marvin "Dip" Diplock is survived by his children, Renee Middleton, Denise Ramirez and Dan Dipock, along with their spouses. He also leaves 8 grandchildren, Dan Hawk, Summer Miller, Jamee Genisauski, Jodee Gonzalez, Dustin Diplock, Rocky Ramirez, Randy Ramirez and Amanda Ramirez and 6 great-grandchildren.
