Hanz Heinz came to Amsterdam in 1938 with his grandmother Karoline Selig and went to live there with his uncle Hugo Daniël Sinzheimer and his aunt Paula Sinzheimer-Selig. The Sinzheimer family lived at Rubensstraat 36 in Amsterdam. In a letter, Hugo Sinzheimer writes that on an August evening in 1942 around 9 o'clock an invasion took place in the house on the Rubensstraat where Hans Heinz and Paula Selig were arrested. Hugo Sinzheimer volunteered. Paula and Hugo were later released but Hans Heinz did not and he was deported.
