Aileen E. Ahrens, 85 of Crystal Lake, formerly of Elgin passed away Friday, May 4, 2007 at The Springs at the Fountains, Crystal Lake. She was born November 19, 1921 in Canton, MN the daughter of Parnell and Iva Donald Kimball. She had been a resident of Elgin for most of her life before moving to Crystal Lake in 2003.

She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin. Lifetime member of the Prairie States Leather Guild. Past member of the Fox Valley Saddle Association.

Surviving are her daughter, Deborah Meler of Elgin; son, Dennis "Buck" (Sherry) Ahrens of Crystal Lake; seven grandchildren, Randy (Amy) Drexler, Jerry (Kristin) Drexler, Justin (Heidi) Meler, Kathlyn (Jason) Lewellyn, Jennifer (Steve) Cunningham, Shawn (Chris) Ahrens, and Heather (Jason) Flick; 12 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Donald Ahrens of Elgin; son-in-law, Sid (Deni) Drexler of Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald W. Ahrens; daughter, Therine "Renee" Drexler; six brothers and sisters.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 7 at 8:00 PM at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be private in St. Charles Borromeo Church Cemetery, Hampshire. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 P.M. until the time of services in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity of one's choice.
