One of four children of Frederick Abair and Anna Kingdollar Abair. A resident of Bokeelia for 20 years, he moved from Ballston Lake, N.Y. A veteran of World War II, he served five years in the Signal Corp. He spent 39 months in New Guinea as a Sgt. Major of a supply depot. After service he joined the New York Telephone Co. retiring after 39 years ending his career in Human Resources. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jean Parke Abair; his son, Jonathan F. (Barbara) Abair of Troy, N.Y. He was preceded in death by a son, James J. (Carol) Abair and a daughter, Judith Ann MacDonald (John E.) and three brothers. He had seven grandchildren, Amy Labosky (Timothy), Melissa Andrejko (Aric), Sarah Abair, John E. MacDonald IV (Amy), Erik, Michael and Kayla Abair. Also five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law, Jessie (Alan) Browne, Carol Joy Parke and Yvonne Parke.
