DAVENPORT - Francis W. "Frank" Saladino, of Davenport, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2007, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 12, 2007, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today at the Runge Mortuary. Interment will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. He was born April 8, 1925, in Davenport, the son of Tony and Lillian (Wriedt) Saladino. On June 14, 1947, he married Shirley Stender in Davenport. Mr. Saladino farmed until 1971 in Scott County. During that time, he also served as a Scott County Assessor. He was later employed as supervisor in the Traffic and Sign Department for the City of Davenport. Following his retirement, he painted for Ruhl and Ruhl for a number of years. His memberships included St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wilton Lodge #167, A.F.&A.M., Davenport Consistory, KAABA Shrine, and Scott County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and baking. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; children and spouses, Eugene and JoAnne Saladino, of Clinton, Iowa, Steven and Joy Saladino, of Davenport, and Jacqueline and Jim Smith, of Columbia, S.C.; grandchildren, Jeff Jacobs, Lisa Latsonas, Shae Lyn Saladino, Stephanie Saladino, Sarah Saladino, Samantha Saladino, Shyanne Saladino, Amanda Winslow, Christian Smith, and Lacy Smith; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Kevin, and Allie Jacobs; and brother, William Saladino; and sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Delmar Dudgeon. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law, Gerry Saladino, and grandson, Joshua Smith.
