Arthur Collins was one of the leading pioneer recording artists. His career began with Thomas Edison in 1898 and he recorded until the early 1920s - often paired with tenor Byron G. Harlan. He is best remembered for his hit 1905 recording of "The Preacher and the Bear," which he recorded for nearly every major recording company of the day and was one of the largest selling records of the acoustic era.
