Kathy was born on May 3, 1947 in Peoria, IL to Bernard and Margaret (Moran) Maxwell. She married Rev. Dwight Borden on June 24, 2000 in Pekin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dr. Jeff Maxwell.
Surviving are her husband, Dwight; one son, Nathan (Carissa Arnett) Woolsey; one daughter, Alex Lamprecht; two granddaughters, Jada Lamprecht and Madeline Borden; two step sons, Stephen Borden and Matthew (Tricia) Borden; one step daughter, Amy (Larry Mann) Borden; one brother, Steve (Lorna) Maxwell; one sister-n-law, Kathie Maxwell.
Kathy received her BS degree in 1969 from the University of Iowa and MA degree in 1987 from Bradley University. She was a Pyschotherapist with an office in Pekin for many years. She was a 3rd grade teacher for District 108 at Douglas School for several years. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ.
Kathy was an amazing woman with a heart of gold. Over the years she was involved with many different organizations. She was extremely passionate about counseling people and developing strong trusting relationships. She loved watching people grow emotionally and mentally. Kathy was an advocate for so many people in all different parts of their journeys. Her children could have not asked for a better mother and best friend. Kathy will be truly missed and will forever live in our hearts. Thank you Mommy for teaching Nate and I to be the people we are today. We are forever grateful for our relationship and love you.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at St. Paul United Church of Christ with Rev. Jack Kraaz, Rev. Forrest Krummel, Rev. Tom Norwalk, and Rev. Brian Byrne officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Tuesday, Sept. 25th at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr. Pekin and from 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM on Wednesday at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ or TAPS.
