Daughter, Ella; 1 brother, Adolph, and 1 sister, Teresa Spethman, both of Gretna, Nebraska; 3 grandchildren, Wallace Deerson of Benson, Nebraska, Mrs. Thelma Schneider and Mrs. Cleo Nelson, both of Elkhorn; 3 great-grandchildren, Myrna Roe Deerson of Benson, Dennis Nelson and Jodette Schneider, both of Elkhorn.


Services from the residence Sunday 1:30 pm to Bethany Lutheran Church at Elkhorn, 2 pm.

Interment in Prospect Hill cemetery.

Mrs. W. S. Deerson, Dies at Elkhorn

Mrs. Wilhelmina S. Deerson, 81, died Thursday November 29, 1945 at her home in Elkhorn where she had lived for 42 years.


Funeral services were conducted by Rev. R. A. Beckman, pastor of the Bethany Lutheran church, Sunday. Burial was in Prospect Hill cemetery.


Mrs. Wilhemina Sophie Deerson, daughter of John and Elizabeth Spethmann was born June 14, 1864 at Davenport, Iowa. In the year 1883 she moved to Nebraska, settling near Gretna. She was married to Henry Deerson on February 15, 1888 at Gretna. Mr. and Mrs. Deerson were the parents of two children, Arthur, who passed away in 1927, and Ella, who has taken care of her mother for many years.


Mrs. Deerson was baptized August 15, 1897 by Rev. William Husemann, then pastor of the Lutheran church at Gretna. She became a member of the present church in Gretna in 1923 when Rev. Mr. Schmidt was pastor.


Mrs. Deerson moved to Elkhorn in 1903 where she resided until her death.


Survivors include: daughter, Ella Deerson of Elkhorn; one brother, Adolph Spethmann of Gretna; one sister, Miss Theresa Spethmann of Gretna; three grandchildren. Mrs. Thelma Schneider and Mrs. Oleo Nelson, both of Elkhorn, and Wallace Deerson of Benson, Nebraska.


Out-of-town relatives attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kopeitz, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Spethmann, George A. Spethman, Mr. and Mrs. Ray H. Young, Mrs. Jennie M. Spethmann, Marie T. Spethmann, Mrs. Ruth Reh, Mrs. Fred Vierregger of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Spethmann, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Lutz of Papillion; Edward J. Spethmann, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Spethmann and Arthur, Miss Mary Messman, Miss Lulu Spethmann, Theo Spethmann of Council Bluffs, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Spethmann and Miss Theresa Spethamnn of Gretna.
