He was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. Garry continued his education at Cornell University Medical College, New York City and became a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery in 1973. Garry was also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and practiced General Surgery from 1974 until his retirement in 2001.
Garry proudly served his country in the United States Naval Reserves as Lieutenant Commander until 1974.
