Paul J. Tiedtke, 97, a former Elroy resident, died Sunday, February 5, 1989, at the Tomah Health Care Center in Tomah, where he was a resident.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elroy, with the Rev. Conrad Prell officiating. Interment was in the Elroy City Cemetery.

The son of August and Anna Amelia (Beduhn) Tiedtke, he was born January 10, 1892, in the Town of Wonewoc. He attended Five Corners School.

He was a dairy farmer and a resident of the Elroy area most of his life. He had lived the last 10 years at the Care Center in Tomah.

He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two nieces, Evelyn Schwartz of St. Paul and LaVern (Russell) Lankey of Tomah; two nephews, William Johnson of St. Paul and Norman Springer of LaValle; a brother-in-law, Harold Springer of Wonewoc and many great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by five sisters, Rosa Tiedtke, Olga Tiedtke, Martha Gritzmacher, Anna Johnson and Ida Springer, and a brother Herbert Tiedtke.
