Prof. Edmund V. Eichler, 64, of 210 Arthur, widely-known organist and music teacher, died October 9, 1951, in Faxton Hospital after an illness of 18 months.

He was born Jan. 10, 1887, in Utica, son of Edward and Margaret Barry Eichler, and received his education in the old Assumption Academy. Mr. Eichler studied organ under George Fisher. In 1917 he married Ella Rabenstein.

Mr. Eichler served as an organist for a number of local churches and had been organist of St. John's Church for 20 years prior to his illness.

A disabled veteran, , Mr. Eichler served in World War I with the 18th Infantry Regiment of the First Division. In 1912 he made a European trip, which was climaxed with an audience with Pope Pius X, in company of the Rev. Richard P. O'Connor.

The two also visited Danzig, Germany, birthplace of Mr. Eichler's father, and his mother's birthplace, Tipperary, Ireland. The organist was a communican of St. John's Church.

Besides his wife, he lives a son, E. Vincent Eichler; four borthers, John W., Matthew F., Harold F., and Walter F. Eichler, all of Utica.

The funeral will be at 9 Friday morning from the home and at 9:30 in St. John's Church, with burial in St. Agnes Cemetery.
