A celebration of his life was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2007 at St. John's Catholic Church, Andrew, Jackson County, Iowa, with the Rev.James Chappell officiating.
Burial was held in St. John's Cemetery, Andrew, Iowa.
Visitation was held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa, Iowa where a vigil service was held at 4 p.m.
Robert E. Schwager was born on November 28, 1946 in Maquoketa, Iowa to Sylvester B. & Martha Sprank Schwager.
He graduated in 1965 from Marquette High School in Bellevue, Iowa.
He married Marla Herrig Schwager on April 20, 1968 in Bellevue.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Bob worked at Brock Lumber in Maquoketa for many years and farmed all of his life in Jackson County.
He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Andrew, Jackson Pork Producers and Jackson County Cattleman's Association.
Bob loved Life. He enjoyed dancing and cruising in his 66 Mustang, enjoyed spending time with his greandchildren, traveling and the rewards of farming.
Survivors include a son, Brian & Kathy Thul Schwager of Dubuque; two daughters, Jason & Stacy Wolf of Cedar Rapids and Stephanie Schwager of Maquoketa; three grandchildren, his companion Audrey Potter of Maquoketa, one sister, Steve & Jane Kiebel of Dubuque and two brothers, Donald & Joanne Schwager of New Liberty and David & Alice Schwager of Maquoketa.
He was prededed in death by his parents.
