She was born December 31, 1930 on a farm near Kelly, KS, the only daughter of Eugene and Philomena (Kongs) Winkler. She attended St. Bede’s schools and graduated from St. Bede’s High School in Kelly, Ks. She married Raymond J. Hermesch in Kelly on December 30, 1950. They spent 52 years together, 41 on the dairy farm. Raymond preceded her in death, August 29, 2003.
She was preceded in death by her brother Linus Winkler on November 4, 2004.
Eleanor is survived by 3 daughters and 6 sons, Linda (Rick); Judy (Matt); David (Tammy); Dennis (Sandy) ; Diane (Rick); Gary ; Kevin (Cathy); Duane (Tish) and Bruce. She loved creating and reminiscing about the many wonderful family times. Eleanor treasured time with her 24 grandchildren and 25 great –grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes were cooking for family and friends, making homemade apple pies, mowing her yard and walking with Ellen.
She is also survived by brothers Albert (Ellen), Marvin (Theresa Marie) and Leroy (Eunice) and preceded in death by her parents and brother Linus. She will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Eleanor depended strongly on her faith and was a lifelong member of St. Bede’s Parish and Alter Society.
