Raymond F Eckhardt

1921-2016

Raymond F Eckhardt, "Bud", 95, of Arlington MA, formally of Bladen and Holstein, NE, died May 8, 2016 peacefully at home with family, after a long and full life. Raymond was born in Norman Nebraska on March 29, 1921. Raymond is survived by his loving wife, of 75 years, Rachel (Bartlett) of Minden, NE, sons Ray Larry and wife Sandy, Galen and wife Linda, Richard Eckhardt and wife Denise. He is also survived by his grandchildren Michael, and Daniel Eckhardt, Melanie Remmegna, Kenneth, and Cheyenne Eckhardt, Courtney, Jessica and Brittany Eckhardt and great grandchildren Nicholas Pearson and Scott Eckhardt. He is preceded in death by grandson Steven Eckhardt.

Raymond served in the army during WWll, from 1942 to 1945. He was part of the 13th armored division serving in Europe. Raymond was awarded 4 medals including a Purple Heart for his service. After an honorable discharge from the army, Raymond and his wife returned to Nebraska where they were lifelong farmers in rural Bladen/Holstein. He was active in the community including the Holstein United Methodist Church. He enjoyed traveling with his family in a motorhome and later going on ocean cruises. Raymond was able to fulfill a lifelong wish to see the Panama Canal with his sons. He retired to Holstein, NE, later moving to San Dimas, CA and finally to Arlington, MA.

Raymond will be returning to Holstein, NE for burial at a future date.
