Vesta Lee Ransom, age 83 of Searcy, Arkansas passed on to her Savior on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 in Searcy. Born July 17, 1935 in Kensett, Arkansas to Adolphus (Red) Baker and Bertha Lee Joyce Baker, she is survived by two daughters: Carmen Pate and husband Bob of Tomball, Texas; Kerri Fee and husband Dan of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; five sisters: Martha Robinson and husband Don of Searcy; Sue Osborne and husband Charlie of Searcy; Jo Baker Jones and husband Mike of Conway, Arkansas; Judy Greer and husband John of Conway; Becky Harrison and husband Mike of Loveland, Colorado; four grandchildren: Jason Douglas and wife Jessica of Duncanville, Texas; Joshua Douglas and wife Michelle of Jacksonville Beach, Florida; Holly Pate of The Woodlands, Texas; and Lindsay Craig and husband Ben of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; and 10 Grandchildren.
Vesta was preceded in death by her husband, Carmi Louis Ransom; her parents, Adolphus and Bertha Baker; two sisters: Carolyn Baker, and Joyce Rushton; two brothers: Johnny Baker and AJ Bo Baker; and one grandson, Benjamin Waldorf.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Judsonia for 30 years until her three years at the Crossing at Riverside nursing facility, where she joined the First Baptist Church of Searcy. Vesta has worked as an administrative assistant to a US Congressman, a State Attorney General, a school superintendent and a bank president, among other occupations. She was a gifted artist, seamstress, and cook, and loved serving others. Most of all, she loved people, and particularly her family. All who loved her will miss Vesta.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 5, 2019, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Judsonia with a visitation prior to the service at 10:00 AM at the church. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Judsonia.
