Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend passed away peacefully at the Huron Woods Nursing Center in Kawkawlin, Michigan in the evening hours of Thursday, December 27, 2018. Age 88 years. Victoria "Vicki" was born on December 22, 1930 in Munger, Michigan to the late Walter and Mary (Moncman) Cabala. In 1945, her family moved from Munger to Bay City, Michigan when her father purchased the Arlington Hotel. Vicki graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1949. On February 11, 1950, she married her beloved husband, Chester "Chet" Niemiec, at St. Mary's Church in Bay City. In the years to follow, Vicki and Chet became founding members of the ARC of Bay City and volunteered many service hours to the community.Chet has since preceded her in death on May 3, 1984. In 1986, Vicki began a cleaning business in South Florida and operated her business for 27 years. In her free time, she loved to walk the beach collecting shells. Vicki was also an avid Detroit Tigers baseball fan, loved cooking and canning, playing bingo and dancing the Polka. She was a member of Corpus Christi Parish and St. Mary’s Church for many years. Vicki was a very busy lady but nothing brought her more joy than her grandchildren and family.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Jerry (Lori) Niemiec of Bay City, Tom Niemiec of Bay City, Laurie (Jim) Len of SouthFlorida, Donald (Sueanne) Niemiec of Bay City and Ron (Yvonne) Niemiec of Bay City; grandchildren, Michael Niemiec, Bryan Niemiec, Krista (Kevin) Cline, Jonathan Niemiec, Nicole (Glen) Aitken, Eric-Jon (Alisha) Niemiec, Aaron Niemiec, Chelsie (Jim) Goss, Kaylee (fiancé, Nate Rogers) Niemiec and Anthony Niemiec; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Izabella, Victoria, Tayleigh, Lincoln, Madisyn, Jewel, Anastasia, Stella, Ronin, Carter, Lillian and December newborns, Lucas and Connor; sister, Anne LeVasseur of Ammon, Idaho; sisters-in-law, Mary Cabala of Bay City, Sandy Cabala of Linwood and Georgiana (Niemiec) Freier of Farwell, Michigan; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Victoria is welcomed into Heaven's Gates by her husband, parents, sister, Thresa (Walter) Jankowiak; brothers, Walter Cabala, Edward Cabala, Mitchell (Janet) Cabala; infant twin brothers, Peter and Paul; and brother-in-law, Arthur "Buck" LeVasseur.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff of Huron Woods Nursing Center; Judy Wells and the Riverwalk Meadows Community; and Stephanie Osantowski and Debra Sawicki of Region 7 Area Agency On Aging.

The Funeral Mass will take place at the Corpus Christi Parish – Holy Trinity Church on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11:00 am. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Robert Kelm. Visitation will take place at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Private inurnment will be held at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Bay City, Michigan. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to the “Wishes of the Family”. Squires Funeral Home
