Walter Richard Hester, who resided in Charleston, passed away Monday, December 31, 2018, at his home. He was born Aug. 5, 1947, in Warren to the late Hershel and Nina (Squires) Hester. He was 71 years old. Rich was a retired corporal for the Arkansas State Police Department and a member of the Army Reserve. He married Rhondah Gack on July 7, 2001. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Charleston, a 32nd degree Mason in Huntsville, a member of the Scottish Rite, a board member for Little Creek Country Club, a substitute teacher, and a golf coach. He loved traveling, golfing, and fishing.
Cremation is under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Rhondah of the home; two daughters, Tabitha Hester of Charleston and Kristy Gregory of Alma; two sons, Max Hester of Paris and Evan Eiland of Ft. Smith; four grandchildren, Whitley Connelly, Colin Gregory, Rebel Ervin, and Radley Ervin.
The family will visit with friends 5-7 pm Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Bill Van Meter will conduct a short memorial service.
