HERRGUTH--Funeral Services Sunday for Mrs. Mary Herrguth
Mrs. Mary Louisa Herrguth, 78, passed away at 9 a.m. Thursday at her home in Platte Center. She had been in failing health about one and one-half years. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the family home in Platte Center and at 2 p.m. at the Grace Lutheran church with Rev. W. S. Holstein officiating. Burial will be in the Columbus cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Gass Funeral Home from 11 a.m. Saturday until 3:30 p.m. that afternoon when it will be taken to the home to be until the hour of service.
As Mary Louisa Schroeder, she was born March 7, 1870, in the state of Iowa. At the age of four years, she came to Nebraska with her parents, the late William and Augusta Schroeder, and settled on a farm near Humphrey. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and confirmed at Christ Lutheran church by Pastor Fischer.
On March 8, 1893, she was united in marriage to Charles Fredrick Herrguth at Humphrey and they had always made their home at Platte Center. To them were born two children, Alvin F. Herrguth of Platte Center and Carl F. Herrguth of Columbus.
She was a life-long member of Grace Lutheran church in Platte Center and was a member of the Ladies Aid society of the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband who died Jan. 3, 1920, two brothers, Charles Schroeder of Albion, and William Schroeder of San Francisco, and one sister, Mrs. Ed Walters of Humphrey.
Mrs. Herrguth is survived by her two sons, one granddaughter, and one great-grandson, two sisters, Mrs. Ida Clother of Platte Center and Mrs. Anna Lewis of Humphrey, and two brothers, John Schroeder of Omaha and Ed Schroeder of Rockford, Ill.
