Brian Kevin Whaley passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 20, 2019 after a year-long battle with brain cancer.
Brian was born on June 28, 1965 in Tallahassee, FL and lived with his parents, T D and Mary Ellen Whaley, and his brother, Dennis Whaley, in Medart, FL. He graduated from Wakulla High School in 1983, where he was well-loved and respected by his classmates and teachers. He attained his A.A. degree at Tallahassee Community College before going on to the University of Central Florida where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering in 1988 and a Master of Business Administration in 1995. It was at UCF that he met his wife of 25 years, Susan Scott Whaley. Brian has worked for Motorola for the past 28 years, serving in various roles.
Brian is the proud father of two children, Brooke Whaley Harman (husband Sam Harman) and Parker Whaley. He is an active member of Wildwood Church, where he has served in many capacities, most recently as Elder. He was deeply devoted to his family and loved spending time with them vacationing all across the country, having Friday night dinners together, taking weekend camping trips, attending their childhood activities, and of course, going fishing at Live Oak Island. He was a true friend to many and was known for his integrity, his strong work ethic, his positive outlook on life, his quick smile, and his unwavering faith in God. He was beloved by many and will be greatly missed, yet we eagerly anticipate the day we will see each other once again in our heavenly home.
A funeral service for Brian will be held at 12:00 noon, Thursday, January 24, 2019 at WildWood Church, 100 Ox Bottom Rd. Tallahassee, FL. The family will receive friends at the church following the service and the interment will be held at 4:00 PM at Lake Ellen Cemetery in Crawfordville, FL.
