Jane was the daughter of Marshall and Sarah Cummings of Northampton Township, Bucks County, PA. She married Jesse Kenderdine at Hartsville, PA in February 1844. Jesse and Jane had two children, Rebecca and John Marshall. Jesse died in 1848. Jane married Jonathan Ridge in February 1859. Jonathan and Jane had two children, Lendrum and Daniel.
