Mrs. Ruby Anna Walter (nee Middaugh) was born in Mount Hamill, Iowa to Robert Lee Middaugh and Clara Anna Griffith on December 30, 1892. Her father left when she was a small girl to parts unknown and her mother remarried to William Henry Peel (in which he raised her like his own).
Ruby married four times:
1. William Arthur Dieterich on Dec. 24, 1911 in Fort Madison, Lee Co., Iowa (they divorced around 1920)
2. Joseph Lorence Schier on Oct. 26, 1922 in Carthage, Hancock Co., Illinois (they were married until his death in 1944)
3. Fred Schultz on Oct. 19, 1946 - divorced on Sept. 18, 1947, Moline, Rock Island Co., Illinois; she went back to Schier surname.
4. Fred Romain Walter, a retired farmer, on Dec. 9, 1954 in Silvis, Rock Island Co., Illinois (they were married until his death in 1962) Fred, himself was married three times.
Ruby lived to be 91 years old, dying in the Illini Hospital. Services were at 11 am on Friday, Feb. 24, 1984 with the burial at the Rose Lawn Memorial Estates in Moline. Ruby was a member of the First Baptist Church, Moline Eagles 1112 Auxiliary, Moline Women of the Moose, Silvis Woman's Club, plus other organizations.
She outlived many of her children, but was survived (in 1984) by nine grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
