Rev. Lewis was a retired farmer and minister. He was a member of Swartz First Assembly of God Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Lottie Gilley Lewis; seven sisters and three brothers.

He was survived by two sons, Rev. Gerald Lewis and wife Shirley, and Purvis Lewis and wife Gwen, all of Monroe; two daughters, Lois Dickerson of Monroe and Marie Agin of West Monroe; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 15 great- great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
