He came to America in June, 1929. He fell in love with Luella Schneekloth, and they were married in 1932. They were blessed with five children, though sadly, one son died in infancy.
On October 16, 1940, Hans and Luella were living in Omaha, Nebraska, where Hans was working as a house painter. Hans was 31, and walked into the World War II draft registration office in Omaha. He listed his wife as his nearest relative, and the clerk noted that Hans had blue eyes, blond hair, was 5'5" and weighed 140 lbs.
Hans was a member of the Plattsduseber Verein of Bennington and an honest faithful member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.
Hans Hoff, of Omaha, Nebraska, died Monday morning, October 25, 1976 at the Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife; 2 sons, Dr. Roland and Robert of Omaha, 2 daughters, Mrs. Jack (Arlene) Lee of Omaha and Mrs. Robert (Karla) Williams of Lonoke, Arkansas; 12 grandchildren, 1 brother, Carl of Omaha, 1 sister Mrs. Elfrieda Heger of Omaha, 3 sisters in Germany, a sister-in-law and nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were George R. Muller, Glen Mohr, Leroy Heger, Dennis Regan, Marlin Cohrs and Darrell Schneekloth.
Interment was at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Funeral services for Hans Hoff were held October 27 at 2 o'clock at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church on 6201 North 60th Street in Omaha.
Kremer Funeral Home of Omaha, Nebraska is in service to the family.
