She retired after 31 years of service, the last 16 years as an office manager.
In 2001, she married Frank Varga who survives her. They enjoyed 17 years of marriage, traveling and committing themselves to the service of others through volunteer work at CarolinaEast where Doris enjoyed being a gray lady. She also volunteered with Sharing Hearts and Craven County Hospice.
A Celebration of Doris' Life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday December 13, 2018 at St Paul Catholic Church, 3005 Country Club Road, New Bern. The family will be receiving friends immediately following the service in the Atrium.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Doris' memory to Religious Community Services (RCS), 919 George St, New Bern, NC 28560.
