Elizabeth was the daughter of Jacob Henderson and Mary Frances Haralson. Her Henderson line emigrated from Scotland ca. 1660. And her maternal Haralsons came to America from Denmark before 1700. She married Samuel Chapman Fielder on 24 January 1833 in Yancyville, Caswell County, North Carolina, son of Samuel Fielder and Frances Leachman. She was the mother of ten children: Sarah Frances/1834, Martha Elizabeth/1836, Eliza Jane/1839, William Jackson/1841, Mary Ann Rebecca/1843, Missouri Margaret/1846, Lenora Miles/1849, Samuel Leonard/1852, Priscilla Ellen/1855, Lauretta Keith/1857. The family moved to Pike County, Missouri ca. 1835 and bought 1200 acres of land. In the 1840 census they were the owners of ten slaves. At the time of the Civil War the family were in sympathy with the south and SCF was reported to be a captain in the rebel army. The family lost everything during the Civil War. Their house was burned and a brother (William Jackson) killed. She never formally united with a church though she encouraged her children to do so. She was known to be in every way kind, merciful and benevolent. On 2 May 1860 she divorced SCF on the grounds of habitual drunkeness. Her death after a brief illness was due to acute dysentery.
