Rose Marie Polensky Tomek, 88, of Bay City passed away on March 6, 2019. She was born on September 14, 1930 in Wharton County to the late Louis Polensky and Mary Cerny Polensky.
She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a faithful Catholic who deeply loved her family, church and community. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Legion of Mary, Altar Society, choir member, Catholic Daughters, CCD instructor, Hospital Auxiliary, Girl Scout leader & consultant and Big Sister mentor. She attended Holy Cross Catholic School and was in the first graduating class of 1946. She was passionate about politics, especially when they challenged her Christian morals or values.
She was married for 48 years to her late husband, Bennie Tomek. Also preceding Rose was her son, Garry Tomek and sister, Della Tucker.
Survivors include daughters Karen Tomek, Vivian Wagnon (Bennie), Kathy Brangan (Mike); sons Gregg Tomek (Cindy) and Michael Tomek (Sandra); grandchildren Garry Gregory (Charisse), Troy Gregory (Natalie), Eric Wagnon (Morgan), Jeffrey Wagnon (Ashley), Suzanne Brangan Boehm (John), Kaitlin Brangan Haugen (Kevin), Kyle Tomek (Frances), Travis Tomek (Brooke), Brandon Tomek (Shelby), Patrick Tomek, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 10, with recitation of the holy Rosary following at 3:00 PM at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. The funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Rev. Greg Korenek officiating. A private family interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.
Pallbearers are Garry Gregory, Troy Gregory, Kyle Tomek, Travis Tomek, Brandon Tomek, Eric Wagnon, Jeffrey Wagnon, Patrick Tomek and Hunter Bruening. Honorary pallbearers will be Suzanne Boehm, Kaitlin Haugen, Dane Simons and Dennis Grassmuck.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to Holy Cross Catholic School Foundation.
