Donald Wayne Miller 89, passed away Saturday, March 9th at the Life Care Center in Burlington. He was born October 13, 1929 to Bill and Georgia Fry Miller on the Olinger oil lease in rural Greenwood County, Kansas.

Don attended the #106 Oilfield School and later graduated from Gridley High School with the Class of 1947.Following high school Don immediately went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad. After 30 years of service Don retired in 1978 as a chief dispatcher for the eastern division in Emporia.After retiring he and his brother Tom were partners in Miller Brothers Oil Company Inc. He would remain in the oil business until 2016.

Don married Darlene Sutton in September 1949, they had two children, William and Cindy. Darlene would precede him in death in 1992. He married Alberta Cook in 1992 in Emporia.

Don enjoyed fishing, hunting and working in his shop. He loved having and raising his hunting dogs.

Don will live on in the hearts of his wife, Alberta of their home in Burlington; his son, Bill Miller and his wife Joyce of Americus; his daughter, Cindy Miller of Emporia; two grandchildren, BillyMiller and Robin Kohnz; four great-grandchildren; numerous extended family and a host of dear friends. Don was also preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Georgia and a brother, Tom Miller.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the VanArsdale Funeral Home in Madison. Burial will follow services at Gridley Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour prior to services on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Assembly of God Church in Burlington and sent in care of the VanArsdale Funeral Home at Box #488, Madison, Kansas 66860.
