Marion taught in one-room school in rural Fessenden, ND, for one year and in Drake, ND, for one year.
On September 20, 1935, Marion married Lawrence Larson in Velva. They made their home on the Larson homestead, rural Voltaire, ND. Together they farmed, milked cows, raised chickens, and had a large garden. Lawrence passed away in August of 1973. Marion had continued to reside on the farm until October of 1998, when she moved to Velva. She lived there until 2005, when she moved to Valley View Manor, Velva. In April of 2006, she moved to Edgewood Vista in Minot.
She was a member of Hjerdahl Lutheran Church, rural Voltaire, and its ladies aid. She had taught Sunday school and was the church secretary for nearly 10 years. She was also a member of the Voltaire Parent Teachers Association.
She enjoyed reading, quilting, gardening, embroidery and baking lefse, donuts and cookies. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving family includes: sons, Lauren (Mavis) Larson, Minot, Gerald (Betty) Larson, Voltaire; son-in-law, Ernest Stordahl, Loveland, CO; grandchildren, Lori (Richard) Nelson, Bruce Larson, Kathryn (Mark) Seidler, Gregory (Cherie) Stordahl, Randy (Ann) Stordahl, Carmen (Jonathan) Briggs, Patty (Robert) O'Shea, D'Ann (John) Johnson, Sally (Mark) Anderson; 16 great-grandchildren, Natasha (Jeremiah) Johnson, Anthony Grabow, Justin and Tristan Seidler, Jessica, and Jeremy Stordahl, Braden, and Brylie Stordahl, Kyle Briggs, Taylor, Erin, and Cassandra O'Shea, Trisha, and Gunnar Johnson, Robert and Brady Anderson; one great-great-grandson, Xavier Johnson; sister-in-law, Margaret Tyson, Minot; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marion was preceded in death by her parents, Ludwick Wastwet and Marie Wastwet Tyson; husband, Lawrence; daughter, Loretta Stordahl; step-father, Lee Tyson; two infant sisters; sisters, Verla Kohler Hahn and Fern (Ed) Brunner; and brothers, Ray and Emmit Tyson.
Funeral: Friday, May 11, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at Hjerdahl Lutheran Church, Rural Voltaire.
Interment: Hjerdahl Lutheran Church Cemetery, Rural Voltaire, ND.
Visitation: Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Velva.
