Henny Reil, 96, Kendrick

Henny Reil passed away at the age of 96 at her home on the Potlatch Ridge of Kendrick Sunday, June 26, 2011. She was born in Bad Zwishenahn, Germany, Oct. 27, 1914. She was the daughter of Heinrich and Helene Leuttmann Sander, and had a brother and two sisters.

Henny came to New York City by ship Nov. 8, 1934, which had taken seven days from Germany to the U.S.

On Nov. 9, 1934, she married Henry Reil. They traveled back to Kendrick by train, where they lived on the Garby place for 10 years until their new home was built, where she remained living until the time of her death.

Henny's hobbies were raising many beautiful roses, raising a big garden, which she shared with others, crocheting, embroidering, taking care of her chickens and checking on the crops with her John Deere Gator. Henny liked driving with Ed as he picked rocks. She truly loved her farm, the outdoors and helped out as much as possible.

Until about six years ago, due to her health problems, Henny traveled to Germany in the winters to visit her family and friends. She always had a wonderful time.

She was an honorary member of the Kendrick High School FFA chapter. Each year she generously gave a scholarship to two graduating seniors, who were going to major in agriculture education. She also donated funds for their trips to the National FFA Conventions. She was a member of Cameron Emmanuel Lutheran Church, the Kendrick Grange, Idaho Road Runners, Cameron Ladies Aid and the Kendrick Campers Club. Henny will be missed by all of those who knew and loved her.

Survivors are Ed Lynch, her farm business partner for 40 years, and his fiancee, Mariann Chase nieces Marga Blair of Kendrick, and Margaret Gorne' and Erica Ploege', both of Germany nephews Horst Reil of Kendrick and Karl Ulrich of Germany and many great- nieces and nephews.

Preceding Henny in death were her parents brother Heinrich and sisters, Anna Ulrich and Margaret Freilinghaus, who all lived in Germany.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cameron Emmanuel Lutheran Church, with burial to follow at the Cameron Cemetery.

At Henny's request, memorials may be made to Cameron Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home of Lewiston is in charge of arrangements.
