PFC Stanley Seiji Ushijima, 99, of Hilo, a retired Hawaiian Telephone Company Field Engineer and a Private First Class United States Army World War II Veteran who served with the 100th Infantry Battalion, died in Life Care Center of Hilo. He was also member of Higashi Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, Hilo Daijingu, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 6, and a statistician for AJA Baseball. Stanley was predeceased by his wife, Kay Kiyoko Ushijima. He is survived by his brothers, Charles (Alice) Ushijima of California and Tetsuro “Ford” Ushijima of Honolulu; son-in-law, Thomas Oishi of Hilo; sisters-in-law, Sachi Ebesugawa of Hilo, Ann Kaya of Hilo, Yaeko Ebesugawa of Hilo, and Ruby Maruyama of Denver, Colorado; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Services held were private; no flowers or koden (monetary offerings).
