Buddy was the eldest son of Anne Citron and Meyer Lansky. Buddy was born with Cerebral Palsy which left him permanently disabled his whole life. Buddy proposed to his wife, Annette in 1955. They were married a few years later. They were later divorced. He lived in New York but then moved down to Miami. He was very close to his father and following his father's death in 1983 his condition worsened.

He spent the remainder of his life at Arch Creek Convalesent Home. One morning he refused to eat or drink and he kept he face staring towards the wall. He had given up. He passed away two days later of starvation and dehydration with his head still towards the wall.
He was buried beside his beloved father at Mount Nebo Cemetery.
