Bettie's family and friends will gather for visitation, Thursday, April 18th at Grace Funeral Home, 2401 Houston Hwy. in Victoria from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. A service celebrating Bettie's life and her faith will be at 10:00AM, Friday, April 19th at Grace Funeral Home - Houston Hwy. Burial will follow at Port Lavaca Cemetery.
Bettie was born April 12, 1931 in Refugio, Texas to the late Slvester Washington and Exie Mayhall Alexander.
Bettie worked for Comal Cottons at the Village Mall and later for Dillard's at the mall. She also worked as an insurance agent for over 15 years for American General Insurance. Bettie's passion was her family, her home was known in the neighborhood as the place to hang out, and there was always plenty of goodies to eat. She was an avid reader and enjoying sewing, alterations, embroidery and quilting. On those sunny days she could be found out in the yard working in her flowerbeds. Bettie was the last matriarch in the family. Her loving nature and spirit will be deeply missed.
Bettie was preceded in death by her parents, Slvester and Exie Alexander; her siblings, Slvester Alexander Jr., Annie Alexander and Ola Gara; the father of her children, Marvin Joseph Mikeska, Sr. in 2007; her son, Dennis Ray Mikeska; her great-nephew, Kyle Bayley; and her second husband, Aubrey James "Sonny Boy" Bethke in 2004.
