Clarence A. Muckerheide, age 81, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 1991, at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born May 8, 1910, in Garwood, Idaho, a son of Nicholas C. and Mary Brucker Muckerheide.

On June 21, 1939, he married Frances Mauel. She died March 20, 1956. On Feb. 5, 1957, he married Patricia Foy Richardson.

Mr. Muckerheide was a 1928 graduate of Berlin High School. He started in the fur industry in Berlin. After high school, he apprenticed in the fur trade in Milwaukee. In 1930, he came to Fond du Lac, and, with his father, established Muckerheide Furs and Fashions. He was very active in the business until semi retiring in 1970 and fully retiring in 1978 when the business was sold. Mr. Muckerheide was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a past member of Knights of Columbus Glee Club, Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce, and St. Mary's and St. Joseph's Church choir. He sang for many years as a soloist for weddings and many civic events. Mr. Muckerheide coordinated and for many years managed the transportation of residents of Fond du Lac Health Care Center to Sunday Mass at St. Joseph's Church.

Survivors include his wife; six sons; four daughters; 12 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; one daughter-in-law; one sister; and two brothers.

Preceding him in death were two granddaughters, Michelle Wiener and Katherine Muckerheide; one sister, Lucille Glas; and one stepgrandson, Thomas Schinker.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery, with a lunch in the church basement after burial.

Memorials in his name may be directed to the local Catholic education fund or the Pontifical Society for the Propagation of the Faith.
