Jonas M. Ziegler, age 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Girlie's Manor in Cross Plains. He was born on Oct. 1, 1920, in Ashton, the son of Theodore and Mary (Radermacher) Ziegler. Jonas was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, serving during World War II. After proudly serving his country, he worked for Rayovac until his retirement. Jonas was united in marriage to Agnes Maier on Oct. 27, 1973, in Middleton. She preceded him in death in 1988. He had a variety of interests but especially loved riding his bike throughout Middleton. In 1987, he recorded over 4,000 miles biked around the town. Jonas also loved celebrating his birthday each year with family and friends at Rex's Innkeeper.In addition to his wife, Agnes, he was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Elizabeth (Joe) Acker, Theodore Jr. (Betty) Ziegler, Sue (Bill) Ripp, Kay (Marty) Ripp, Sister Victoria Marie Ziegler, Werner "Kiefer" (Evelyn) Ziegler and Rosetta (Gerald, "Bud") Endres. Jonas is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, with Monsignor Douglas Dushack presiding. Burial will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Ashton. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at ST. BERNARD'S CHURCH.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Girlie's Manor for all their loving care for Jonas over the past 10 months. Also, thanks to Home Health United for their many visits and support during this time.
