Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 14 starting at 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. all at the Zahrbock Funeral Home in Madison.
Visitation will continue before the service on Wednesday at the church.
Robert (Bob) Jerome Bormann was born on June 1, 1934 in Madison, Minnesota to parents Alphonse and Marie (Bauler) Bormann. Bob was baptized and confirmed in St. Michael’s Catholic Church. He attended school in St. Michael’s Catholic School and then graduated from Madison High School in 1952. Bob enlisted in the United States Marines from September 15, 1952 to September 15, 1955. He was united in marriage on March 1, 1957 to Delores Shelstad in Madison. To this union 3 sons were born. After his honorable discharge from the Marines, Bob worked at Roen Furniture from 1955 - 1960 and then at the Madison Farmers Elevator from 1960 until 1996 when he retired.
Bob was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Madison American Legion 158, VFW Post 1656, Family Council of the Madison Lutheran Home and Lac qui Parle County Crop Improvement Association. In life, Bob treasured being with his family, especially going to his grandchildren’s school activities. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, making bird houses and just tinkering in his garage. He and Delores loved traveling after their retirement.
Death came to Bob on May 11, 2019 at the Johnson Memorial Health Care. He had reached the age of 84 years, 11 months and 10 days. Left to remember his memory are his wife Delores, sons Brian and Nancy Bormann of Canby, MN, Bret Bormann of Madison, MN, Bruce and Kim Bormann of Alexandria, MN, 8 grandchildren; Angela Leppke, Theresa Day, Brandon Bormann, Brady Bormann, Cassandra Bormann, Alex Bormann, Dan Bormann and Katie Bormann, 7 great-grandchildren, Kristian Leppke, Kaylee Leppke, Kortney Leppke, Isaac Day, Collin Day, Audrey Bormann and Abby Bormann, brothers, Chuck Bormann of Madison, MN, Jerry and Sandy Bormann of Madison, sister-in-law Kay Bormann of Madison and aunt Dolores Bormann of Madison.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alphonse and Marie, grandson Matthew Bormann, brother Marvin and sister-in-law Linda Bormann. Blessed be his memory.
All veterans are asked to meet at the church to form an honor guard.
