She was born on February 9, 1930 in Earlville, IL, the daughter of Eilert and Agnes (Moller) Goken.
Mary was united in marriage on June 21, 1952 to Vernon E. Herrmann and they spent the next 64 happy years of their lives together. Mary was a member of St. Katherine Drexel Catholic Church in Sugar Grove, IL. In her younger years, she was a hairdresser. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon E. Herrmann of Hinckley, IL; her children, Janice (Rob) Collin of DeKalb, IL, Vern (Margo) Herrmann of Big Rock, IL, and Kevin (Linda) Herrmann of Hinckley, IL; and daughter-in-law, Lisa Herrmann of Big Rock, IL; her grandchildren, Scott (Emily) Herrmann, Jarred (Jaime) Herrmann, Ryan Collin, Matt Herrmann, Kelley (Brandon) Ulrich, Andrea (Peter) Kaus, Julie (Fianc , Andrew Vlosak) Herrmann, Brittany Herrmann, Emily Herrmann, and Keith Herrmann; her great-grandchildren, Anna, Addison, Travis, Zoey, Andrew, Lucas, Waylon, Cole, Chloe, and Hannah; her brother, Eilert Goken of Shabbona, IL; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eilert and Agnes Goken; her son, Richard E. Herrmann; and her four brothers, Casper, Herman, Paul, and Edward Goken.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM with a viewing from 9:00 until 9:45 AM on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 8S055 Dugan Rd., Sugar Grove, IL with Father Robert Jones, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery in Sandwich, IL.
Visitation will begin with the Rosary at 2:45 PM and continue until 8:00 PM on Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel, 141 N. Maple, Hinckley, IL.
