Albertina “Tina” Larson, 95, of Clayton, was called to eternal rest on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the Mayo Clinic Health System – Northland in Barron.
Tina was born in Almena on January 04, 1924 to Ferdinand and Albertine (Schwederski) Hauser, the eighth of ten children. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church, Almena and confirmed at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Almena. She attended Maple Grove Elementary and Turtle Lake High School.
Shortly after high school, Tina moved to Minneapolis where she worked several different jobs over the next two years. In the fall of 1943, while living in Minneapolis, she met Franklin Larson from Clayton. They continued dating, and Tina soon fell in love with her future husband. They were married on June 29, 1944 at Zion Lutheran Church.
Frank and Tina bought a house in rural Clayton and later bought a dairy farm just up the road. Their union was blessed with three children; Kenneth, Phillip, and Pamela. Tina helped on the farm until 1962, but then went to work at Jerome Foods in Barron, later becoming a poultry inspector for the State of Wisconsin. In all, she spent twenty five years working at Jerome Foods. In 1975, son Ken took over the family farm, so Frank & Tina moved back down the road to his family homestead and purchased a new home. She retired in 1987.
Tina was a member of Silver Creek Lutheran Church for most of her married life. She was a long-time member of the ladies Concordia Club, sang in the choir, and taught Sunday School. She was a devout Christian who instilled love of family and faith in her Lord to everyone in her family. She was extremely proud of her family, and especially enjoyed her time with grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Tina was a typical farm wife of her generation. She enjoyed gardening and harvesting the bounty of her labors – canning and freezing fruits and vegetables. She was a great baker and cook, treating her family to homemade breads, cakes, and pies. She will be most remembered for the annual canning of sauerkraut, which required cooking and canning many gallons of cabbage into dozens of jars every year, which she shared with family, friends, and at church bazaars.
Tina is survived by her son Kenneth (Lorna) Larson of Clayton and daughter Pamela (David) Fall of Clayton, eight grandchildren; James (Kelly) Larson, Michael (Micki) Larson, Elizabeth (Robert) Harrop, Jennifer (Chad) Herman, Eric (Lacee) Larson, Marissa (Chris) Theorin, Leslee (Kyle) Erickson, and Ashley (Joshua) Balts, seventeen great grandchildren, brother Alfred (Jean) Hauser of Almena, and sister Elizabeth Tessmann of Almena.
She was preceded in death by her husband Franklin in 1977, parents Ferdinand and Albertine, son Phillip and his life partner Vicki Cole, brothers Herman and John Hauser, and sisters Helene Schneider, Martha Brotherson, Hattie Kuck, Olga Pronos, and Alma Mackey.
