She was born in Hebron, N.D. on June 10, 1931 to Frederick and Emma Herrmann Maas. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Portland, Ore. She married Herbert William Stephens II on Feb. 16, 1953. Together they raised six children: Jacqueline (Kent), Robin (James), William Blake, Tammie, Herbert William III and Sean. She enjoyed ceramics and cake decorating, and had a passion for quilt making.

She is survived by her husband Herbert, two daughters Jacqueline and Robin and two sons William Blake and Herbert William III; her brothers Melvin (Bonnie), Leonard, Bruce and Gene and her sisters Betty, Dee (Joe), Paula and Cathy; her grandchildren Jaime, Kyle, Brittany, Steven, Janelle, Lindsey and McKenzie and two great-grandsons Ryder and Klayton. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Tammie and a son Sean.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in care of Pioneer Memorial Services, Moses Lake.
