Actress. She was best known to film viewers as the "leading lady" in more than 30 Westerns produced at Republic Pictures in the 1940s and 1950s. Born Peggy O'Rourke, she met actor Henry O'Neill on a family vacation as a young teenage girl and was recommended for her first acting role in the 1937 film "Wells Fargo." She would go on to appear in more than 30 Western serial films produced by Republic Pictures, after signing with the studio in the early 1940s. In the early 1950s, after a stint as a casting director at NBC, she moved from films into television and later appeared in such series as "The Roy Rogers Show," "The Cisco Kid," "Have Gun - Will Travel," "Gunsmoke," "Emergency!," "Quincy M.E.," "The Riches," and "The Office." She also continued acting on the "big screen" with such credits as "When the Clock Strikes" (1961), "The Animals" (1970), "Terror in the Wax Museum" (1973), "Bobbie Jo and the Outlaw" (1976), and "That's My Boy" (2012).
