Velma L. Ficken, 96 years and 5 months, of Theodosia, MO, formerly of Jesup, IA, went to meet her Lord Jesus on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Forsyth Rehab Center. Velma L. Jackson Ficken was born in Lake Mills, IA to Issac Jackson and Marie Verna Scott Jackson. She was the third of seven children and was born on November 6, 1916.

Velma was united in marriage to Henry Ficken on August 3, 1932 in Albert Lea, MN and to this union two children were born, Phyllis and Henry "Bud". Velma retired in 1980 after 17 years as Supervisor at Children's Unit Mental Health in Independence, IA. Her family was her life. She loved her work and always helping others.

Velma is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Dilts and husband Loyd of Theodosia, MO; one son Henry "Bud" Ficken and wife Madelyn of Columbus, OH; his grandchildren Diana Roberts and husband Rob of Montour, IA, Doug Dilts of Theodosia, MO, Mark Dilts and wife Sheila of Theodosia, MO, Daphne Verdico and husband John of Columbus, OH and Leslie Bowers and husband Jeff of Waterloo, IA; great grandchildren Karli Dilts, Elias Abodeely, Maria Abodeely, Carli Rae Chilcote and Sam Chilcote; great-great grandchildren Ayana Abodeely, Nakayla Abodeely, Jayla Abodeely, Isaiah Abodeely and Ronnie John Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents Issac and Marie Jackson; brothers Bill, Walt and Ed; sisters Ethel, Susie and Dorothy; niece Joey Burtness; and her husband of 70 years, Henry Ficken in August of 2002.

A Memorial Celebration will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at the Theodosia Lighthouse Church in Theodosia, MO. A second Memorial Service is pending in Iowa and burial will be in Rockwell, IA.

A memorial celebration for Velma L. Jackson Ficken, 96, of Missouri, formerly of Mason City, who passed away April 13, 2013, will be held at Grace Evangelical Church, 440 N. Illinois St., Mason City, Saturday, June 22, at 2 p.m.
