Gerald "Jerry" Wade Amedee passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 18, 2015. Mr. Amedee, age 89 years, was a native of Lutcher, LA and a resident of Terrytown, LA for the past fifty-four years.

Beloved husband of Dorothy "Dot" Gammel Amedee for sixty-nine years.

Loving father of Tom Amedee (Deb), Jan Estopinal (late Jim), Gwen Mudge (Anthony) and Ruth Ann Woodward (Lynn).

Devoted grandfather of ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Son of the late Ambroise Amedee and Marie F. Waguespack Amedee.

Brother of Evelyn Zeringue, Shirley Crocker and the late Clifford, Clifton, Nolan, Whitney, Laurent, Ernest, Norman, Francis and Emilie Amedee and Carmen A. Bourgeois. Mr. Amedee, age 89 years, was a native of Lutcher, LA and a resident of Terrytown, LA for the past fifty-four years.

After many years of service to Independent Life Insurance, he retired as the District Manager. He then joined the New Orleans Convention Center as the Fire and Safety Supervisor; after serving in that capacity for a number of years, he later retired. Mr. Amedee also dedicated a great amount of his time and talent to the Terrytown Volunteer Fire Department and most recently served as the Fire Prevention Captain. He was the recipient of the Norman Leniox Award for his efforts and also achieved lifetime membership in the Terrytown Volunteer Fire Department.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at the Terrytown Fifth District Fire Department, Station No. 51, 341 Heritage Avenue, Terrytown, LA on Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Terrytown Volunteer Fire Department would be appreciated by the family.
