Low Country Cremation and Burial is serving the Dixon family.∼Vidalia, GA--Mr. Thornton Morgan Dixon, age 98, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2019 at Serenity Place, Dublin, GA. He was born October 18, 1921 in Live Oak, FL to the late Roy and Ollie Dixon. He came to Vidalia, GA after serving six years in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Dixon was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Vidalia where he served in various capacities over the years. He was a former Shriner and Mason and member of the American Legion. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, three sisters and his loving wife of seventy-two years, Mary Ellen Caldwell Dixon. He is survived by his three children, DiAnne Dixon, Debbie Thigpen and David Dixon, as well as five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his loving and devoted sister, Verdie Dosal of Tampa, FL. A memorial service will be held in his honor at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church in Vidalia, GA with the Reverend David Blalock officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Serenity Hospice, 104 Maple Drive, Vidalia, GA 30474 or to Sweet Onion Animal Protection Society, P. O. Box 210, Vidalia, GA 30475. Low Country Cremation and Burial, Reidsville, GA was in charge of funeral services.
