Helen Emery, 91, of Boulder died at Frasier Meadows Healthcare Center due to complications related to old age on April 30th, 2014. She was born on September 22, 1922 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Ann Emery of Boulder, J. Philip Emery, his wife Silvia Rangel-Emery and three grandchildren, Kyla, Sarah and Marissa of Littleton, Colorado. Three brothers, Henry, Jacob and Robert preceded her in death. She was married for 59 years to J.K. Emery who died in 2012. Helen was raised in Lincoln, Nebraska where she worked starting at the age of ten in the family grocery store. She went to college at the University of Nebraska where she received a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in educational psychology. She taught music courses in Michigan and Nebraska public schools and served as a psychologist for the Scottsbluff school system. After her marriage to J.K. Emery she worked in the inter-library loan office at Colorado State University and then became a full-time mother to her children. She served as church organist for Southern Hills United Church of Christ in Boulder and was a choir member of the Plymouth congregational Church in Scottsbluff. She was a volunteer at Boulder Community Hospital for several years and worked as an election judge in Boulder. She and JK loved to travel and visited her parent's homeland in the German Volga area of Russia.
