Services for George Edwin Thompson Jr., 90, of Rockford, Ill., will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, in the Niche Chapel at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery. Private inurnment will be held following the services. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the services Tuesday, in the chapel. Born Sept. 17, 1914, in Chicago, the son of George Edwin Sr. and Ida (nee Mohr) Thompson , he died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, at the Loyalton Retirement Center. He was employed by TRW Cinch as a cost accountant and retired in 1976, after several years of faithful service. He is survived by his children, Judy (Garry) Nierhoff of Rockford, Lynne (Walter) Ciesielski of Streator and William (Jill) Thompson of Rockford; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and brother, Carl Thompson of Mount Prospect. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (nee Andersen), who passed away in 1987. Arrangements were made by the Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Rockford, (815)226-2273.
