Funeral services for Theodore Gehring, 64, of Rapid City, South Dakota, were held Tuesday, July 17, at 11:00 a.m., at the Zion Lutheran Church, in Ashley. Reverend Martin Simmons was the officiating pastor. Burial was at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Ashley. Mr. Gehring died at the Rapid City Regional Hospital, July 10.
Theodore Gehring, son of John and Fredericka (Herman) Gehring, was born May 11, 1920, near Ashley. He grew up in this area and on August 11, 1940 he was united in marriage to Martha Hinsz at Ashley. They farmed near Ashley until 1952 when they moved to Lead, South Dakota.
For the past 20 years Gehring lived at Custer and Rapid City, South Dakota.
He leaves to mourn his death, one son and three daughters, Ronald Gehring, San Jose, California; Judy Fust, Aberdeen, South Dakota, and Mrs. Vern (Debbie) Armstrong, Union Gaps, Washington and Mrs. Max (Vicky) Morrison, Yakima, Washington; six grandchildren and one brother and two sisters, Edwin Gehring, Ashley; Mrs. Fred (Hulda) Gieser, Eureka, South Dakota and Mrs. Reinhold (Gertrude) Nitschke, Billings, Montana.
His parents, four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Pallbearers were Barry and Troy Fust, Wilmer Gehring, Willis Becker and Edwin and Henry Eszlinger.
